Speaking of bondage...

I love Elseworlds; The Search For Ray Palmer revisiting them has me just tickled to death.
Red Son had a goodly lot of Superman/Diana, with insane terrorist Batman, and that's what comes out when our heroes stumble into this crazy Communist state... with excellent fashion sense.
Spoilers for a book that just came out today.

They find Ray Palmer; just not the right one. They also find Batman, who I so love in this world. Bitter, hunted, nothing left to lose, and a serious love of Mother Russia. Also, Ray hanging around his shoulders is kinda cute. :D

Bondage is also a theme of this story. Generally involving the lasso. More on this later...

Ray hiding in a chandelier is great; that costume is awesome.

So is Diana's costume. :D

The thing about Red Son that always bothered me me was this Clark/Diana thing. The lonely princess from the island comes to Man's World, latches onto Superman, follows his ideology out of... seems like mostly devoted love. An unquestioning one-woman Gestapo, all out of unrequited passion? His ideologies are part of why she's so devoted, but especially in this story, she kinda comes off like a henchman.
Anyway.

It's too intense for Jason; of course, there's more reasons why for that.
Lastly, a pretty shot of Superman's costume. Even if he's kinda evil, he looks good doing it.

Then... what do we have to look forward to next week?

I'm certainly looking forward to Alexis Luthor. :D

on 2007-12-13 02:59 am (UTC)Though I'm not following it directly, the only real downside I see to the AU worlds exploration involved in The Search For Ray Palmer is the element of elimination. If there's 52 AU's and we know about them all, doesn't that spoil the potential for future elseworlds?

on 2007-12-13 03:07 am (UTC)I'm hoping this'll encourage future Elseworlds with the series being well received... but anything's possible with DC's evil intentions.
