Flash: Rebirth #5

This issue makes me want to take back everything I ever bitched about with this mini. I had a sneaking suspicion that would happen, but seriously. I guess I can't feel bad for not having outthunk an evil speedster. (Or Geoff Johns, but, you know.) And why they upgraded it to 6 issues instead of 5 becomes so very obvious.
I enjoyed the fuck out of this issue. Those in my life that have listened to me sitting in a passenger seat ranting about this series may be very surprised by this information.

It doesn't hurt that I really, really love speedster fights, and this one was epic.

Must I even explain why this is awesome? If I do, you need to go read moar Flash comics. Right now. Seriously. Go. Do it.

This is awesome. I was waiting so hard for Bart and Max to interact like this and this comic DELIVERED. I love how even in the middle of this awesome speedsterfight Max and Bart find the time (as speedsters are wont to do) a few moments to bond like that again. Max going back to his mentor status and Bart having grown up like that. Thankfully not so literally as when he was the Flash. That was way too emo for me by the end.

Generally speaking, the term "girl power" makes me rage. However. Jesse can do whatever the hell she wants because she's fucking amazing. Maybe she's generally too busy for her friends. She makes up for it by being too busy at being the best at whatever she does in style and having the only other good marriage in the DCU that isn't dumb (or with dead people.)
KICKING THAT FUCKER IN THE FACE HELPS QUITE A LOT.
Making one of Wally's children a real speedster was also an excellent choice. The unusual powers were interesting, however, it didn't feel right. How they will handle how Iris took all the juice and left her brother not in constant flux yet ordinary is something I look forward to seeing.

Wally teaches everyone how to make a speedforce-powered uniform, which is awesome, because Wally actually teaching people things makes me happy. Mostly because of the rarity of it, and when it has happened, it's been generally those brief moments of telling off Batman (and doing it well).
ANYWAY the choice of uniform everyone picks is interesting. That Wally goes back to the "shiny" suit, Jesse adopts the feminized version of her father's uniform, and... check out little Iris. Speedsters certainly make quick decisions.
Now brace yourselves for how fucking evil the reverse Flashes really are.

Professor Zoom went back to do awful little things to Barry all throughout his life and topped it off by murdering his mother and framing his father for it. Did Zoom actually do it? I'm not entirely sure, bu I know he would if he could. Evidence says he can. I challenge anyone to show me an adversary that's that vindictive in comics. Do it.
Seriously, evil speedsters are the worst. They don't just fight you. They go after everything you love and destroy it. Because they're that evil.
