So I was looking for something in a random issue of Action Comics, and nothing could have prepared me for what I found. I was in disbelief. And then I got choked up.

Starting with Action Comics #753. And begins with the Justice League on the trail of Superman gone rogue.

So if you're thinking to yourself, after seeing that for the first time, There's NO FREAKIN' WAY that just happened! you're where I was. But it totally did happen; Clark was pushed there by this dude named Dominus, who in and of himself is not so interesting. In #754, he finds himself in the Phantom Zone, looking very much like Christopher Reeve.

So, with a little more help from the JLA, things work out. In #755, Clark has been cleared of the chaos he caused, having not been in his right mind. But things aren't the same anymore; the people of Metropolis are afraid of him now.

There's some levity alongside Clark's feelings on the subject... and then, while he and Lois are in a cab, the driver lets him know just how he feels about Superman. Wibble on this level is hazardous to your health.

Clark falls asleep just after this, poor dear, and has dreams about a dead world with all the life sucked out of it. Where he's still feared by what remains of the population. Two panels of some nifty visuals from that. And then, the last panels of the issue. He runs into the little girl he saved in the first panel, and levity returns. And we all can walk away thinking things really will work out. And that's where I got all choked-up.

But I don't want this all to be all sad, so I'm going to throw in a little about how sometimes, it's hard to be Superman in much less traumatic and angsty ways. Issue #760, in which he's threatened with fake kryptonite, absurd costumed villains who have been seriously misguided, riddles the Riddler, and gets some lovin' from a scam artist wielding serious cleavage. And Batman uses Young Justice as a go-between to get a message to him. Weirdo.

Yeah. Clark's definitely better when he's smiling. And making cute little surprised looks.

So I never actually found what I was looking for. But this roller-coaster ride of a few issues made up for it.

Oops, Bats and Superman have a small martial spat. I'm glad Sups is not dating Diana, think what damage would they do THEN! O_o

This is one of those things... Batman's computer security and Superman's mind.
I think if I were king of DC, I would make it a rule that for the next two or three years no one could mind control Supes and no one could hack the Batcomputer. I mean... c'mon.

I agree with you on that 100%

Though I do know of a few anime characters that could do those things...meh. They're not anime though, so my point is moot.
