Justice League America Annual #5; Waverider, disguised as Captain Atom, touches the members of the League and looks into their futures; with two of particular interest. The art suffers from it's time period.

First, J'onn has become the Green Guru, sitting atop a mountain serenely as pilgrims seek his advise.

Such as it is.

Life.. my son.. is like.. an Oreo cookie... )

Then, Scott & Barda are running a business, and get a visit from Oberon, about Ted and Bea.

As usual, Barda's in charge of the situation.

You're engaged?!?! )

"But Mistress, please..!"

"Silence, my pet. My word is final."

::giggles:: Scott wanting to break his buddy out of prison = win.

There are a couple of issues of The Flash I read over and over; and this is one of them. The cover itself is an homage to The Flash #184 from 1968, which you can see more about here at hyperborea.org.

Barry has come back to life; at least, that's what everyone, including himself, thinks. This issue is like, halfway through that story, but it has some recap of all the important bits. It goes into how Wally feels about being the Flash after Barry, and what it all means to him, and it's such well done angst.

Life begins at ten. At least, that's my story. )

Obviously, this was during Wally's pre-Speed Force shiny suit era.

But seriously; check out the shrinelike photo on the wall. Wally fairly worshipped Barry Allen, as a mentor, a father, and a martyr. I love it.

This next page is one of my all-time favourites... )

This issue was also Max's introduction to the DCU, with those scans in this post. And, of course, ultimately Barry turns out to actually be Professor Zoom (long story) and his bitch-smacking once Wally finds out is in this random pile of Flash scans.

And, almost completely unrelated, this here is still one of my favourite conversations between Bruce and Wally. But A League of One still wins. XD

A very strange, meta-kinda ficlet thing.

I've always been drawn to the Joker and the idea that he has "super-sanity", that he knows he's not real, and that's why he is the way he is; no consequences. Over the years, in comics, there's been a few places where this has become really the only explanation for him knowing certain things, and in this medium? A fascinating analysis of the character.

Then rumours started flying around about DC killing off the Joker, in his current incarnation, to be replaced with a new one.

Combine the two, and this is my response.

The Joker tries to explain something to Batman; and fails. Mention of character death, but no other warnings.

I'm quitting. I thought you should know. )
