Titans Tomorrow

I've been meaning to do this for a while. There are many Teen Titans stories that can be overlooked, but this one isn't one of them for me. And it's another dystopian future, surprise surprise.
Because Duela Dent was mentioned today, and I got to thinking about Rose, etc.
The Teen Titans are thrown into the future, and meet their counterparts, the grown-up Titans. Then everything goes south.

Duela and Tim continue to fight...
And then we're cookin' with gas.

If, the first time you saw this, you thought "OH SNAP. He did NOT just DO THAT!" You might be somewhere around where I was the first time.
It gets worse.
He straight up murders Duela.
Complete with heavy-handed symbolism that made me feel very strange.
The Teen Titans find themselves at a very different Tower...
And Raven has an observation.

They go inside, and find a Hall of Mentors full of their own mentors... the current JLA and others. Including a very interesting few...
And Tim has a very smart thing to say. Too late.

Hello future. You're sure cool looking.
Inevitably, they fight. Tim is obviously in charge, but Bart has something to say...

He fights anyway. And because he can steal speed, being the bigger, better Bart, he does well.
It's about the same for everyone. They get their asses handed to them, but eventually they listen to older Bart and take a breather to talk things out rationally.

The group dynamics for the Titans become quickly, and painfully, obvious when they get inside the Tower. Tim is very obviously in charge, with Kon as Superman right behind him with the other half of the muscle. They remind me of a posse. Gar's right there too... but Bart's off standing over away from them.
And Kon has something to say about that. So does Tim.

Kon decides to go off exploring, despite Tim's objections, and his super-hearing picks up an interesting discussion happening with their counterparts...

HELL-O. Yeah, all those bad vibes? Apparently they meant something, Superboy.
But we haven't gotten to the juicy part yet. That's all about where Bart is while his friends torturing Slade.

Woo baby.
And the lies begin.
But not only is Bart lying to Tim, he's making reference to an interesting ability he has. Traveling in and out of the Speed Force. Hm.
Inevitably, Slade escapes, being the clever bastard he is.
And he has something to say to Bart about his relationship with his daughter.

Fight scene, fight scene, Slade and the Teen Titans all escape from their counterparts... Except for Tim. He goes somewhere completely different.

Batman-Tim goes on for a while about how he knows Bart is a traitor.
And then an awesome fight scene in a graveyard.

The angst. It hurts so good.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Teen Titans are searching for the Cosmic Treadmill to maybe find a way back.
They meet the Titans East. The good guys. And a little explanation is made about what the heck is going on, and what they can do to prevent it. Of course.
Then Bart shows up, in bad shape. Rose defends him from batarangs.

Cue a huge fight scene!
And meanwhile, Tim is still stuck with Batman-Tim, who plans on basically mindwiping him. But Batman is too awesome for even good sneak attacks.
He's prepared for everything.

Whilst everyone else is still looking for the Treadmill.
But really, it's all about Tim.

A member of Titans East has something to say to Tim...
Then the Barts get everyone back home.

And, because I want to end this with man-love too... And apparently, so do Tim and Kon.

But wait! There's the creepy epilogue!
In which Superman-Kon talks about the future with a shadowy figure...
And is referring to Lex Luthor as "Pa" in a wicked creepy way.

Now what I find interesting is this relationship between Bart and Rose. How would such a thing begin? How do they maintain it, seeing as Bart is a spy stuck on the other side? Questions, questions...
